Client seed
A client seed is the player's input to a provably fair result, a value you can set yourself that is mixed with the casino's server seed and a nonce.
Also called player seed
A provably fair result is worked out from three things: the casino's server seed, your client seed and a nonce. The client seed is the part you control. Casinos usually fill it in with a random value by default and let you change it on the fairness page.
Example. The casino has already shown you the hash of its server seed. You then change your client seed to a phrase of your own, say blue kettle 42. The casino committed to its seed before it could know your phrase, so it could not have picked a server seed that works badly with it.
What people get wrong. Changing your client seed does not make you luckier and cannot improve your odds. Every seed gives results with the same house edge. Its only job is to stop the casino knowing the full input in advance. It also does not let you predict results, because the server seed stays secret until you change seeds.
The reverse mistake is never touching it. If you keep the default, you are trusting that it was not chosen to suit the casino. Set your own once, after the server seed hash is on screen.
