Self-exclusion

Self-exclusion is a tool that lets you ask a casino to block you from gambling with it for a set period or for good.

Also called self exclusion, gambling block, account exclusion

If gambling is harming you, self-exclusion puts a barrier between you and the casino. You ask, the casino closes or locks your account for the period you choose, and it should stop sending you marketing. It is stronger than a deposit limit or a short cool-off break, and it normally cannot be undone early.

Example. You self-exclude from a casino for one year. Until the year ends you cannot log in or deposit there, and the bonus emails should stop. But the block covers that one casino. You could still sign up at another, unless a wider scheme applies to you.

What people get wrong. People assume one request covers everything. It does not. The tools differ by casino and by country. Some countries run national schemes. In Great Britain, GAMSTOP blocks you from all online gambling sites licensed there with one sign-up. Schemes like that do not reach offshore crypto casinos, which each run their own tools. Some only offer it through live chat.

So self-exclude at every site you use and ask in writing. Blocking software adds another layer. Self-exclusion works best alongside support: most countries have a free, confidential gambling helpline.

  • KYC (know your customer)

KYC (know your customer) is the identity check where a casino asks for documents such as a passport and proof of address, often before it pays a withdrawal.

  • Curaçao licence

A Curaçao licence is a permit to run online gambling issued by the Curaçao Gaming Authority, the regulator that many crypto casinos operate under.

  • VIP programme

A VIP programme is a casino loyalty scheme that moves players up levels and gives them bigger rewards the more they bet.
